O2 – Oh No! You’ve (probably) been managing ventilation wrong

Pedi airway management EMS

Our understanding of emergency airway and ventilation management has advanced a tremendous amount in the past five years, but many EMS services and providers have failed to keep up. Many have heard of apneic oxygenation, head-up positioning, slow ventilation, PEEP valves and more, but how many are using them effectively in the field? This presentation includes live demonstration of these techniques with a focus of coordinating BLS and ALS skills to increase perfusion and improve patient outcome.

Teaching Formats:

-Lecture

-Live Demonstration

-Question and Answer

-Limited Hands-On

Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of this program attendees will be able to:

-Effectively implement apneic oxygenation.

-Perform high-quality bag-valve techniques to optimize oxygenation, ventilation, and perfusion.

-Properly position a patient for effective BVM ventilation, placement of supraglottic airways and insertion of endotracheal tubes.
